The automotive market continues to grind along with inventory levels nearly half of what they were just a few years ago. Most new vehicles now sell for over MSRP and used cars sell for a premium with little on-lot selection to choose from.

Cars traditionally depreciate almost immediately with steep declines in resale value during the first two years. However, this is currently not the case in such a tight seller's market. One and two-year-old vehicles are retaining their value better than ever. But, with so few cars to pick from - and used prices so high - it's not something easily leveraged by the average consumer.
